Covid Art 77: Do you like my hat?

This photograph is so unlike the other formal pictures. Here, a youngish man in a straw hat and a walking stick gazes at the camera in a friendly way. Unlike the other album photographs that are either in nature on walks or in formal artificial settings, this one looks very personal. The background includes a family photo on the chair and a postcard holder with many different images. It seems personal, not contrived, as though the keys to his personality are in the photos behind him. So I drew a complicated botanical world for him in pen and ink. The title comes from a joke in the Dr Seuss early reader book “Go, Dog, Go” which I read several times over the last few months with my beginning English students.
