Covid Art 74: She who shall be obeyed!
This is a very complex piece, and partially autobiographical. Start at the bottom at the very stern-faced woman I think might have been a housekeeper in charge of the kitchen. Gaze up at the couple and their daughter tied to the Almanac and the French antique diary of food costs day by day, and on top, the small town rooftop of their home. So many clues to family life around 1850–all my imagination from combining these standalone elements of life gone by. Oh, did I mention that such a stern faced woman came into my family’s life in 1950 and is still here with us? She just celebrated her 95th birthday and she comes from a small town like this, in the Black Forest.
