Covid Art 71: French Artichoke and Tomato

More from my magical market visits in Provence, this one from August 2, 2000. Were the tomatoes really that bright there and then? They seem so much brighter than the ones I buy today– still slightly orangish and less vibrant. Maybe they were ALL heritage tomatoes in the markets in Vaison La Romaine, Carpentras, and Beaumes de Venise… Anyway, definitely a different type of artichoke than the California variety. And so tender.
